About Bryce
Bryce Rabideau is a composer and multi-instrumentalist with a background in jazz and roots music and a specialty in genre-defying mandolin-centric experiments. As a member of Buffalo Rose, he has played at South By Southwest, Delfest, and NPR’s Mountain Stage. The band’s EP Rabbit features the voice and compositional prowess of legendary singer-songwriter Tom Paxton.
Bryce received funding from the Pathways to Jazz grant program and the New Hazlett Theater to compose, perform, and record a suite of instrumental songs for the mandolin, acoustic guitar, and double bass. The work, titled Meanwhile, premiered at the New Hazlett in October 2021 and was later released as an album. His most recent EP As Far As I Know (2025) features new instrumental arrangements that explore the interplay between mandolin, piano, and double bass.
For his original work, Bryce has been featured on the Mandolins and Beer podcast and David Benedict’s Mandolin Mondays series. He has been hired to play and record with a number of national acts including Dave Eggar, Charles Wesley Godwin, and Lizzie No. Currently, he serves as the director of the bluegrass ensemble at the University of Pittsburgh. He has previously taught music courses at The Calliope School of Folk Music and Folk College of Huntingdon County. He teaches private lessons at his home studio in Pittsburgh, PA.
